Clergy and retired members of the Annual Conference gathered recently to take part in a 48-hour retreat that was enjoyable, productive, and rewarding. With plenty of activities, from worship and prayer to meetings to board games and popcorn, there was something for everyone who attended. DSUMF was invited to host a “Fellowship Room.” This room was designed without any agenda or commitments and was filled with plenty of relaxation and fun for everyone who wished to partake.

In the room, attendees had access to a variety of refreshments and activities such as ping pong and pool tables, 15-minute chair massages, board games/cards, a popcorn station—and even a drawing where they could win custom DSUMF Cornhole boards as prizes! Additionally, we kept true to our mission to “Do More Good,” by hosting a project benefiting UMOM (umom.org) – where we stuffed 190 assorted teddy bears, frogs, horses, and monkeys complete with hand-drawn t-shirts created by the participants.

We invited Wespath Benefits and Investments’ representative, Bob Christophel, to join us. He was available to talk one-on-one with clergy regarding their benefits and retirement plans. Bob was very busy and was a valuable addition to our room! DSUMF also provided a table filled with brochures and information about the foundation.

As clergy approached me afterward, expressing how fun and informative they found everything to be—it demonstrated just how successful this event had been. We are already looking forward to next year’s retreat! Thank you so much to everyone who made this event possible and we hope to see you all again soon.
